Plan before you lift

Confirm the task, the height, the duration and the number of workers. Select the machine that suits the ground and the access route rather than whatever is available in the yard.

Control the ground

Establish an exclusion zone under the platform, protect against vehicle impact, and appoint a banksman where pedestrians or traffic are nearby.

Verify people and paperwork

Operator certificate, familiarisation on the specific model, harness inspection records, machine inspection certificate and a written rescue plan should all be on site before the boom moves.

Equipment covered in this guide

Compare working heights, outreach and power options, or ask the rental desk for a recommendation based on your access route.
